Persona and User Story

It is Monday morning and Betty is getting ready for a very hectic week. To support her MBA studies, she works part-time at City Bistro as Coffee Barista. She tried to exercise daily by setting reminders on her phone or writing a reminder on post-it notes.

However, she keeps on silencing her phone or losing the sticky notes. After learning about habit building at the Habit Groovy site, she decided to get the IoT robot and synchronized it with the app. She created a new habit program and set up the robot to remind her everyday to exercise at 7:00 am. Since the robot has sounds and lights it was effective in getting her attention. She soon developed the exercise habit after doing the routine consistently for 20 days. She reported her success and now her record will be added to the habit database as benchmarking tool.

Key Learnings

The value of rapid prototyping. The robot and the features of the app had to be developed in a strict schedule-based program with fast moving deadlines. It was imperative to prototype rapidly using a variety of software and hardware technologies. For the robot's design, I used Adobe Illustrator and Dimension. For userflow and wireframes I used XD. To prototype the robot in IoT, I had to learn circuit boards quickly along with Arduino. Finally, to prototype the mobile app, I had to learn React JS and programmed the schedule interface. I had the discipline of learning super fast. This proved worthwhile because I applied those learnings in building a solution that is buildable and scalable. I also felt a sense of fulfillment in seeing my visions come to life.
